Job Title:

    Senior Building Services Technician

Description / Responsibilities:

1.      Applications are invited for the position of a Senior Buildindg Services Technician.

2.      Service Team Supervisor, supporting the work of a busy research department.

3.      You will be responsible for the overall performance of a small group of service technicians and the day to day operation of the central service area.

4.      You will also, as Deputy to the Building Services Manager, be responsible for the planning and operation of preventative maintenance schemes for the department; the repair, installation and servicing of the building\'s mechanical services. Proven experience of staff supervision is required together with a diverse range of technical skills to include electrical, plumbing and heating systems is essential.

5.      The role holder will be required to work flexible hours within the parameters of the 36.5 hour working week to enable close supervision of the central service team.

6.      There will be occasions when the role holder will need to be "on call" to cover building plant breakdown.

7.      The ability to work as part of a team is essential. The post will involve some lifting and manual handling for which training will be given.

8.      A good standard of general education is required together with City & Guilds or equivalent qualifications in plumbing, heating and ventilation; a sound knowledge and practical experience of all other building trades would prove useful.

9.      The department operates a no smoking policy.
